I lay awake the other night thinking about how different people in my life feel like gifts. Some like flowers, some like boxes of chocolates, some more like carefully collected shells.
And then there’s a few diamonds. And although I feel immense gratitude for each of them, these are the ones that make me hold my breath and wonder how I came by them. Double check if they’re not just glass. Feel giddy with disbelief, yet aware that nothing is for keeps.
I know we’re always traveling alone. We may weave in and out of each others lives and leave some footsteps on our journey. But we’re always traveling alone. And while I’m content with this, I do appreciate all the roadside treasures and travel companions.
